Hello #Castaways and any new people who are potential fans to the band 'Dead City Lights. Dead City Lights are a band that loves making music and holds their fans deep in their hearts. I keep up with their music and upcoming events as also a dear fan of theirs.  I've followed up on this band since they started out and they agreed to do this interview. Q: What made you guy realize you wanted to make music?
A: "Music is something that we've all wanted to do for a long time. All of us were around 12 or 13 when we really started playing a lot."

Q: Do you guys have a record label? 
A: "We are currently unsigned."

Q: How old are each of you?
A: Zachary Erfort (22)
     Justin Grubb (22)
     Nick Rossi (23)

Q: Please state the instruments you play for each member.
A: Zachary- Vocals and lead guitar
     Justin- Rhythm guitar
     Nick- Drums

Q: What inspires each of you to write and play music?
A: "We all draw inspiration from plenty of places but I think each of us do this to connect with people that love music as much as we do. Music has helped us through our darkest days and been there for our brightest nights (soooo poetic haha) All in all, we just love how music brings people together and we want our music to bring people together."

Q: Do you have any new ep's coming out soon?
A: "We are currently writing and will be recording at the end of this month."

Q: Do you guys plan on touring around the U.S. soon?

A: "Tour is something that we have always had as a goal, but there is a time and place for everything and rushing won't be good for us or any of you. We think about tour every day and when the time is right, you can bet we will be on the road because it kills us to see fans in our YouNow chats or on our Facebook wall or Twitter feed telling us how much they want to meet us because we want to meet all of you!"

Q: . Do you plan to experiment with different genres of music?

A: "We definitely are with these new songs. We have been learning a lot about ourselves as writers. We are very proud of 'Come Alive' but we are ready to reach down and create something really unique and special."

Q: How long have you guys know e/o and how did you guys meet?

A: (Answered by Nick:) "Justin and I met each other when we were about 10 and we both met Zach when we were freshmen in high school."

Q: Do you have any favorite venues you have played from so far? Any you disliked? 

A: "There was a really cool venue in town called The Clubhouse that we loved to play before we were in Dead City Lights but it closed down a few years ago. We love our friends at The Nile, always a good time playing there."

Q: What are rehearsals like for you guys (Nick Answers?)

A: "They can get pretty off the wall. It really depends on what we are working on to be honest. If we are rehearsing for a show it's a blast to run through the songs and come up with ways to make the show interesting and fun to participate in. If we are writing it's pretty intense. Zach will bring a song with guitar and vocals and we will run through it, then I will go home and build drums for it on my computer, then it's a lot of listening, adding parts, listening, taking parts out, listening, and re-listening."

Q: What advice-from each of you- would you giving for people are interested in creating a band?

A: "Work hard to make your dream come true. It is one of the hardest things you can do but it's also the most rewarding. Know that it's okay to fail, learn from your mistakes and keeping standing back up."

Q: List one thing about yourself that fans haven't heard about you before?

A: Nick - "I am an adrenaline junkie. I LOVE skydiving. My favorite thing to that is a lot less expensive, is cook. I love to cook for people."

Q: Any inspiring words from each of you you'd like to give for your fans?

A: "We do our absolute best to talk with our fans on Facebook, Twitter etc. We are a very transparent band so we hear a lot of stories of bullying, crappy home lives, and just the struggles of figuring out their place in the world. If every one of you read this, I want to say (and I'm ripping this straight from the new Johnny Craig record) FIND WHAT YOU LOVE AND LET IT KILL YOU. Whatever your passion is, find it, and completely immerse yourself in it. It will get you through everything."

Q: Anyone you want to give thanks to for financial offering or support towards the band?

A: "First and foremost, our Castaways. Being unsigned, we don't have a lot of financial support so when you guys buy a shirt, or a CD, or a wristband it helps us record a song, make videos, and will be what gets us on the road. You can spend that money on any band, or any THING for that matter, when you choose to spend it on our music, it truly means the world. We really need to thank Zach's family for letting us invade their home every single week and play music there."

Tips For Writing Online

Many of us interact on social networks everyday. For anyone who is interested in writing online such as blogs or free lance in writing online when have the time work hard in writing about their interests or things that might spark interests for their potential readers online. I take a college class called 'Mass Media: Online Writing' with professor Rachael Hanel (https://twitter.com/rachael18.) She brought in a special guest-Shane Frederick-who writes for the Free Press (http://mankatofreepress.com/) in Mankato, MN to our class room Monday. He also has a blog he does called 'Puckato' (http://mankatofreepresshockey.blogspot.com/ .) Here is some tips I thought I'd share from two writing experts with journalism backgrounds:

1. Word Length- Depending on the device a reader decides to read from, you probably don't want to read a super long article. The typical length that's short and sweet is 300-800 words.

2. Interaction- We all read and read blogs. But you probably want the chance to interact with readers or the author of the post you're reading. My suggestion is hinting to the readers to feel free to comment after what you write or create polls, ask the readers what they would like to see. That way you know what the readers would like to see.

3. Visuals- When you look up stuff to read online, you don't just expect to read just words. When writing a blog/article for a website, take pictures and videos and post them so people will stay interested and show them how it relates to a piece of writing.

4. Self Promotion- When you decide to start writing yourself, it may take awhile for a lot of readers to circulate in to read your stuff. Ways to help self promote yourself. How you ask? Create a Twitter account for your blog or create a Facebook group or page. That way more people will know more about your blog.

5. Sourcing- Whenever you take and image, phrasings, or a whole paragraph of something, be sure to create links to show where you got that source, otherwise you are stealing another persons creation. Give credit to the person if you use their work.

6. Interesting thing you might want to know- If you want to embed a Twitter post onto your blog, on your twitter post, click on more and then click embed. The you copy the code lists, past it on the blog post you are currently doing and when you hit post it will be there.

Good Doctor

One of my favorite Korean shows is 'Good Doctor.' This story centers around an autistic man ( who has Savant Syndrome)-Park Shi-on- who as a child developed great memory skills and perception of space in the human body. With that and having the mentality of around a 10 year old, he becomes a pediatrics surgery resident thanks to the hospital director who has watched him grow up. He has to prove to people that he can be a good doctor and is befriended by a woman doctor named Cha Yoon-seo. There people out to try and get Park Shi-on out and some one who want to keep him as a way to make money if they take over the hospital. So far half the series has been made. There are 12 episodes you can watch free on DramaFever.com. I've explained in other blogs that dramafever.com is a legal site to watch drama series for free and has licensing to do so. Feel free to check this series out. When I watched episode one, my jaw dropped at how great the plot was to this series and it tugs on the heart. I'm glad that they show even autistic people can make something of themselves. My favorite character is Park Shi-on who is played by Joo Won. One of my favorite songs is called, 'Carry On' by Ali. It's a touching song about love. It's sung in Korean. I know people who may speak another language may not understand what is being told, but in the video above has the English translation to show you how touching it can be. Now, Click on the video and as you hear the music play and watch the translation can you picture someone you love and this is exactly how you feel or imagine this is how you would want to feel when you're in love. Meanwhile they both fall in love with each other and are not willing to be apart from other but at last eun-soon to save choi-young enters the heaven's gate collects all her needs and returns to the gate to go back to choi-young but due to lack of faith in her she ends up entering the period which is 100 years past the period where she left choi-young and then the heaven gate closes itself.There she spent some lonely years and waited to open the gate one day once again the heaven gate opens and she enters into it and returns back to current period but still not able to forget choi-young she again enters the heaven-gate and this time she enters 5 years after the period where she left choi-young and goes in search of him and they both once again come together."

Heaven's Postman

One of my favorite Korean films is, Heaven's Postman. It tugged at my heart and if you give it a chance, it can tug on yours too. It may seem like this could be a cheesy movie, but I found it really good. This film stars Kim Jaejoong is a singer/composer/actor/model from the boy groups- TVXQ and JYJ- and also stars Han Hyo-joo-actress in this film about a young CEO of a IT company who becomes heaven's postman. He picks ups and delivers letters from this red mailbox in an open field and gives them to the deceased of grieving families.

As we move along in the movie a young woman puts a letter into the mailbox. Out of nowhere she comes across heavens postman whom walks up to the mailbox to take the letters including her hate letter to her deceased ex-boyfriend. Shin Jae-joon-character name- offers that she would work with him.

As they heal families of the deceased lives, this duo begins to fall for each other. But little does Jo Hana know, when the memory of the deceased fades so will heavens post man and it's not good news when she's in love with him he begins to disappear from site and eventually is gone.

He leaves a note behind telling her how he becomes heaven's postman. She's cry's after the backstory scene and then it cuts to him speaking to 'God,' and God tells him he can go back to the living roll. He asks if he will remember the past two weeks. Well, I don't want to spoil too much. So if you want to know how it ends you can see the whole movie free, yes I said the four letter word, 'FREE.' You can see it on DramaFever.com free. Of Light and Darkness

You're wondering what the video above is about. This is the movie trailer based off of writer, actress and vocal artist Shayne Leighton's Bestselling Vampire novel series  'Of Light and Darkness: The Vampires Daughter;'  book one in her series. She also stars in the upcoming film as one of the lead characters, Charlotte Ruzikova. Also if don't already know, Michael Welch -played Mike Newton in the Twilight Saga movies- is also in this film. Leighton is a very talented actress, singer and novelist writer and this movie trailer in my opinion looks great. I encourage you to check out her book, you can purchase it on amazon if your interested in a great read and be ready to see a movie that you can sink your teeth into. I love it already. My Review of the 'Samsung Galaxy SIII' Smart Phone

In July I had my cell phone upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy SIII. I've been using it for about a couple months now and I've got to say, 'I love it.' You get to customize the layouts of up to 6 home pages on your screen with widgets and apps along with customizing folders to put apps in. The sound quality is to die for; I love when you receive or make a call there is a extra volume boost button on the screen, even if your volume is already up all the way. Also, I use my phone to listen to my music. even if you have music on Amazon Cloud, you can download the app and listen on this phone. If you open the back you have the option to put in an SD memory card so if you have music, documents, etc stored on the SD, just slide it in and it's amazing on this phone. Have to say the graphics on this phone is very crisp and in HD so I enjoy watching videos on her. There are shortcuts you can create also. When I take pictures I enjoy the flash option and the box that find the persons face which helps you align. Tips When It Comes To College

I am on my fourth year at my University and since I started this blog, I thought I would share some tips to college students out there in the world or people who will start college the next fall:

1. Make sure you get plenty of sleep- On average the human body needs eight hours of sleep. I know some people are night owls-so am I- but functioning of 2-4 hours of sleep will make you feel dreary. When I started college as a freshman, I'd function of 3-5 hours of sleep and I felt like crap everyday.

2. Make sure to eat at the proper times- When you wake up and establish your energy eat something or take something on the go. It can be an apple, banana, granola bar, etc. But make sure you don't over eat on your meals because they have what they call as the 'Freshman 15.'

3. Stay Hydrated- Make sure you keep a water bottle, juice, pop on you when your outside or inside. I remember my first week of my current year and this one girl fainted, it was 96 degrees F and she had to be taken to the hospital. So stay hydrated.

4. Studying/Homework- I know not everyone likes doing homework but it is necessary. But good news for you, in college you get more periods of time where you get to study and do homework so there is no excuse for late work. There are many relaxing places from dorm rooms, the college library, outside, etc. But if you feel like you're struggling on your subject, check to see if there is a tutor center or tutors around campus and they will be happy to help you. Trust me, I've used the tutoring center at my university for papers.

5. Places to have fun- Normally on campus or around campus there are plenty of activities that offers entertainment for you. Don't just sit inside your room at game and watch TV, go out and have some fun.

6. Get involved with Community Council/Campus clubs/Greek- Getting involved with Community Council and Campus clubs is fun and can serve interests and can look great on resumes. I've been involved with Community Council my second year by being floor president and currently in my fourth year I'm RHA for my floor and I plan on going for floor senator to help represent the campus. I've also been involved in fencing my second year. If you feel it might seem a lot to do, it's not, it easy and simple. I haven't been involved with Greek life, but I work for the University and  help out with different departments including Greek Life.

7. Be Responsible/Safe- College life can be fun but don't over do it by drinking. If your going to drink and get caught by your floor CA (Community Advisor) the you can get kicked out of your residence and still have to pay for housing even if you're not living there anymore. I can't approve of underage drinking but if you do it please be safe and don't do anything stupid, I've seen many people go down. Also the campus provides safety for you, but there might be times where there can be trouble. Always be sure to have a friend with you, if you're alone, stay in lit areas and carry some pepper spray.

I hope all of my tips have helped you be aware of what college has to offer and knowledge of responsibilities to your health and safety. For me, I love foreign short TV series. Some might not be familiar with Korean TV series, but trust me, they are really good. I've narrowed down my top 10 favorite series so far. Trust me, it was hard to choose because there are so many great series over there. But with what I've watched so far, I've picked my top 10 I felt had a strong plot and direction. My Top 10 TV Series:

 

1. Faith: Yoo Eun-soo -a doctor from 2012 is taken by a general-Choi Young- 700 years in the past Goryeo in South Korea-because she is thought to be heavens doctor-to save the queen who got hurt. But trouble lies ahead for everyone, but with a little faith with things resolve themselves? Will this futuristic woman find the love she was destined for?

 

2. You're Beautiful: Go Mi Nyu is a young woman who hopes to become a nun is convinced by her twin brothers-Go Mi Nam- manager to pretend to become her brother in a band- A.N.JELL until he comes back from a bad eye surgery from the States. But will the group members find her out?

 

3. Boys over Flowers: A spunky young girl is transferred to the prestigious Shinhwa High School she runs into the privileged F4 boys. Goo Jun-pyo- leader of F4-  is the big shot of school and no one dares to cross him, except for Jan-di which brings her trouble. Life is going to be interesting. Based on the manga, 'Hana Yori Dango.'

 

4. Personal Taste: Park Kae-in is a woman who designs furniture lives in 'Sanggojae'-her home which is built by her famous father- is dumped by her boyfriend, but when she meets a struggling architect-Jeon Jin-ho- she lets him lives with her-under the assumption that she thinks he's gay because of many misunderstandings-because she's struggling financially. But he wants to see the designs for her house to help inspire a design for a contest to build something for a client. Many misunderstandings and predicaments come ahead. What will come of these two characters?

 

5. My Girl: To help settle her fathers debts by being a tour guide-Joo Yoo-rin- she meets a wealthy heir- Seol Gong-chan- to L'Avenuel Hotel . Even though they get off on the wrong foot, she is offered money by this wealthy heir to pretend to be the found grandchild of his grandfather because the grandfather was thought to be dying. But when the grandfather gets better what will happen to these two? Especially when they fall in love and are seen as cousins in the familys eyes.

 

6. My Princess: Lee Seol- a college student finds out she is the daughter of a prince and a granddaughter to the last king of South Korea, but when the grandson of the Daehan group and diplomat- Park Hae-young is put in charge of her education in the restoration of the monarchy is frustrated that he could lose his inheritance to the restoration. Who will mean more in the end, money or Lee Seol.

 

7. Flower Boys Next Door: A young woman-Go Dok-mi- who works as an editor from home, always shuts herself in her apartment. She also has a crush on the guy in the apartment building across from her. But what will she do when a spunky man-Enrique Geum- comes like a hurricane in her life? Will she find the peace she deserves to have or will her past crush her?

 

8. Good Doctor (Currently ongoing): A autistic man- Park Shi-on- is a genius when it comes to medical knowledge and chief of the  pediatrics department tries to convince the hospital board by putting his position on the line, the hospital board votes this young genius to be a doctor in the Pediatrics department under the supervision of one pediatric surgeon, but with some people who strongly disapprove and people with hidden agendas will the autistic genius continue his dream to be a doctor?

 

9. Lie To Me: Ministry of Culture's worker- Gong Ah-jung- is caught in a lie that she's married to the

President to World Hotel-Hyun Ki-joon- for revenge towards a former friend. He was going press charges when things come up for both to agree to pretend to be married for awhile to benefit their predicaments. But when they are caught, will there be consequences?

 

10. City Hunter: Lee Yoon-sung is out for revenge towards the people-Council of five- who killed his father for his adoptive father. Using a identity of a teen that died years ago, he works at the South Korea's Presidential Palace as a IT expert. But he runs into a presidential bodyguard-Kim Na-na-and he falls in love with her. Eventually she finds out what he's up too and helps him, especially when they have the same goal.

Hello, my blog name is Relatable4You. I am a new blogger. I'm a 21 year old undergraduate college student majoring in Mass Media and minoring in Creative Writing.
